Highlights

Health care vouchers are issued and claimed through an electronic platform. Eligible elderly persons need not pre-register, collect or carry the vouchers.

Starting from 13 August 2025, elderly persons using vouchers to receive services at Jiangmen Central Hospital (“JMCH”) for the first time should visit in person the Service Counter for Elderly Health Care Voucher at the Service Center of Outpatient Lobby on G/F of the Outpatient Clinic of JMCH, present a valid Hong Kong Identity Card or Certificate of Exemption issued by the Immigration Department of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to undergo identity verification and complete relevant procedure.

Elderly persons can undergo outpatient registration through the following three methods: using Jiangmen Central Hospital WeChat Official Account, visiting the Service Counter for Elderly Health Care Voucher at the Registration & Cashier of the Outpatient Lobby on G/F of the Outpatient Clinic, or using the Self-service machine. After registration, elderly persons can wait at the corresponding clinic area according to their registration timeslot. For payment settlement, elderly persons can use vouchers to pay for the fees at the Cashier Counter for Elderly Health Care Voucher on G/F of the Outpatient Clinic.

If an elderly person is attending the Emergency Department, he/she can receive treatment in order after emergency pre-examination and triage at the Emergency Triage. For payment settlement, elderly persons can use vouchers to pay for the fees at the Emergency Cashier Counter on G/F of the Outpatient Clinic.

If an elderly person is attending an appointment for physical examination, he/she should take a number ticket at G/F of the Health Management Center and inform the working staff that health care voucher will be used to pay for the fees. After following guidance of the working staff, he/she can obtain order tests at the Doctor Workstation, visit the Staffed Counter to confirm the Physical Examination Checklist and complete Form Printing, and then arrange to have the physical examination in order following the Guidance System. For payment settlement, elderly persons can use vouchers to pay for the fees at the Cashier Counter on G/F of the Health Management Center.

Elderly persons will need to provide consent to join Electronic Health System (“eHealth”) (if not already) before they could use vouchers outside Hong Kong.

JMCH will make voucher claim for the elderly person. At the same time, the record of voucher usage in the elderly person’s account will also be updated. Upon completion of the process of making voucher claim, JMCH will give a printed record of the voucher balance to the elderly person for retention. However, elderly persons cannot use vouchers to pay for the same episode of service with service fees being covered by national medical insurance.

Services applicable for the Elderly Health Care Voucher Pilot Reward Scheme

A three-year Elderly Health Care Voucher Pilot Reward Scheme (“Pilot Reward Scheme”) is rolled out under the Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme on 13 November 2023. Through providing rewards, eligible Hong Kong elderly persons aged 65 or above are encouraged to use vouchers for receiving designated primary healthcare (“PHC”) services such as health assessment, chronic disease screening and management provided by private healthcare service providers. As long as an elderly person’s principal reason for visit to a healthcare service provider is to receive designated PHC services, the amount of vouchers used by the elderly person on that occasion can be accumulated for earning reward, which can be used for settling fees for designated PHC services in future.

Designated PHC services under the Pilot Reward Scheme are applicable to outpatient services on preventive and follow-up/monitoring of long term conditions provided by the above-mentioned 16 designated outpatient departments of JMCH.
