The Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme (HCVS) aims to subsidise elders’ use of the private primary healthcare services. The following healthcare professionals who are registered in Hong Kong are eligible to participate in the HCVS: medical practitioners, Chinese medicine practitioners, dentists, chiropractors, registered nurses and enrolled nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, radiographers, medical laboratory technologists (the use of services provided by allied health professionals and laboratory test services is subject to the current referral arrangement) and optometrists (in Part I of the register).
If an elder has used vouchers to settle the service fees of an enrolled healthcare service provider, the voucher amount concerned will be reimbursed to the healthcare service provider in arrears on a monthly basis. Healthcare service providers who wish to participate in the HCVS should enrol with the Department of Health in advance. Those who have successfully enrolled in the HCVS will be issued with the Scheme Logo for display outside their practices for identification. They will also be provided a username, a personal password and a security token for accessing the eHealth System (Subsidies).
